About the Connecticut State Senate

The Connecticut State Senate is made up of 36 Senators, each representing an average of 94,600 citizens. Democrats are the majority party in the state Senate, currently representing 24 districts; while Republicans currently represent 12 districts. These 36 Senators represent their respective districts on state matters serving at the State Capitol in Hartford. Technically, members of the Connecticut General Assemby serve part time; most hold other jobs.

We are not part of the United States Senate

All the citizens of Connecticut are also represented in Washington, D.C. by two United States Senators: Christopher Dodd, and Joseph Lieberman. You will not find information on this Web site about our U.S. Senators but may follow the links (on their names) to access their individual Web sites.
