Protecting health-related professionals: Legislation passed in 2007 extended, from six months to one year after discharge, the grace period during which the Department of Public Health must renew certain credentials that lapse while on active duty in the armed forces. It establishes the same grace period for Connecticut National Guard members whose credentials lapsed while they were performing military service ordered by the governor, and established a grace period during which certain other agencies, departments, boards, commissions and officials must renew credentials.

Those state employees called to active duty in Operation Jump Start by the governor or the president are eligible for paid leave and health insurance coverage for them and their dependents. This was achieved in legislation passed in 2007.

In Connecticut, wearing the uniform of an armed services member without authorization or falsely representing oneself as the recipient of a military honor is a crime subject to charges, imprisonment and fines.
