Sen. Cassano Leads Senate Passage of Bill Requiring Study of Accessibility of State Capitol, Legislative Office Building
Today, State Senator Steve Cassano (D-Manchester), Senate Chair of the Planning and Development Committee, led the Senate's passage of legislation requiring a study of the accessibility of the State Capitol, Legislative Office Building, and related facilities.
"A few years ago, I learned firsthand that the State Capitol building is not as accessible as we would like," said Sen. Cassano. "Maneuvering around the building in a wheelchair, after I had my knee replaced, was at times harrowing. With that in mind, I fully support a study reviewing the accessibility of the State Capitol, Legislative Office Building and all other buildings and resources in the Capitol complex. We should ensure all Connecticut residents have the ability to access their legislators and make their voices heard."
Senate Bill 126, "An Act Requiring A Study Of The Accessibility Of The State Capitol Building, Legislative Office Building And Related Facilities," would see a study performed to see current accessibility standards for the State Capitol complex, ensuring the building meets Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
