New State Budget Provides More Funding for Norwalk, Norwalk Education, and Local Non-Profits
The new state budget positively impacts Norwalk in a number of ways, including
- Direct municipal aid to Norwalk increases by over 29% in 2022 and 33% in 2023 from 2021. This is an increase of $5,111,709 in 2022 and $5,700,345 in 2023.
- Education funding for Norwalk increases $588,351 in 2022 and $1,176,702 in 2023.
- Builds on the revised state education funding formula passed four years ago by increasing the weight for low-income students and English Language Learners from 15% to 25%.
- Cranbury Elementary School: $10,125,000 school construction grant
- Naramake Elementary School: $1,127,500 school construction grant
- Norwalk Symphony: $50,000 for each year of the biennium
- Norwalk Maritime Aquarium: $500,000 for each year of the biennium
- Person-to-Person: $300,000 for each year of the biennium
- Stepping Stones Museum for Children: $30,863 for each year of the biennium
- Women's Business Development Council: $450,000 for each year of the biennium
