Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff’s Statement on DOT’s Decision to Scrap Mileage Tax Study
Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff (D-Norwalk) today released the following statement regarding the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) decision to abandon its plans to participate in a multi-state study of a mileage tax:
“I am pleased that the DOT has finally pulled the plug on the mileage tax study,” said Senator Duff. “It was clear from the outset that the Senate Democrats opposed the mileage tax study. I am glad that the DOT is seeking to reprioritize these funds in order to address critical projects.”
Senator Duff has been an outspoken opponent of the mileage tax study. In 2015, 2016 and 2017 Senator Duff announced Senate Democratic opposition to the plan.
