Stamford Delegation Announces New Funding for the Arts
STAMFORD, CT—Today, Senator Carlo Leone (D-Stamford), Representative Dan Fox (D-Stamford), Representative Patricia Miller (D-Stamford), Representative Caroline Simmons (D-Stamford), and Representative William Tong (D-Stamford, Darien) announced state grants for five Stamford arts and culture organizations.
“This arts funding through the Department of Economic and Community Development is more great news for Stamford,” said Sen. Leone. “The arts play an important role in making our city a great place to live, work, and raise a family. Thanks to Commissioner Smith for choosing these five wonderful Stamford organizations.”
The funding, administered through the state Department of Economic and Community Development’s (DECD) Office of the Arts, was secured through two different grant programs.

“I am thrilled the state is investing in the arts in Stamford—We have a thriving arts community,” Rep. Caroline Simmons said. “I applaud Sen. Leone’s leadership in securing funding for such valued arts, theater, and music programs.”
“The arts and arts education play a critical role in the success of communities, and Stamford will benefit greatly from this funding,” Rep. William Tong said. “The impact of these grants will be felt in some way by everyone in Stamford, and I thank all those who made this funding possible.”
“I’m glad to see that Connecticut is supporting the arts through these great community organizations,” Rep. Patricia Miller said. “These organizations provide entertainment and education, create a sense of community, and contribute to economic development in Stamford.”

DECD grant programs including the Arts Learning Project Grants (which provide funding up to $20,000 to support arts in education-based projects for birth to grade 12); Arts & Community Impact Project Grants (which provide funding up to $20,000 for projects that connect the intrinsic value of the arts to identifiable community needs, interests or opportunities); and Supporting Arts in Place Grants (which provide general operating support to eligible arts organizations and municipal art departments) distributed the funding.
