Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff (D-Norwalk) today condemned Congressional Republicans for approving (231-198) the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017. The bill will force states like Connecticut with strong concealed carry laws to honor permits from states with weak or non-existent standards.
“The Republican proposal threatens public safety and will only make our streets less safe,” said Senator Duff. “Allowing more people to secretly carry loaded guns in public places puts us all at risk. Connecticut’s common sense gun safety laws passed following the tragedy at Sandy Hook work, and that data bears that out. While people across the country are demanding stronger gun safety measures, Republicans in Congress are once again proving how out of touch they are by moving in the opposite direction.”
