Claim Your Prize!

CT Big ListConnecticut has updated its "Big List" of unclaimed property, with more than $800 million owed to 1.5 million individuals, businesses and organizations. The list has just been updated, with 95,000 new names added since the last publication in 2013.

Maybe your parent forgot about a savings account they once had, or you forgot about a utility deposit you made. There are uncashed payroll checks, insurance proceeds, liquidated assets from safe deposit boxes, and stocks and bonds just waiting to be claimed.

Since 1999, Connecticut has returned more than $630 million to approximately 286,000 individuals and businesses.

Presently, there are 33,644 Norwalk residents who are owed $21 million, along with 66,135 in Stamford owed $51 million and 16,061 in Westport owed $13.6 million.

Now it's your turn! Visit www.CTBigList.com and search by name for any unclaimed property that you or a relative may be entitled to.

Fast-Growing Connecticut Companies

You may have read recently in The Hour newspaper that several Connecticut companies are included on Deloitte's 2016 Technology Fast 500 rankings of the fastest-growing tech companies in North America.

Investing in Norwalk Housing

Eversource donation
This week, I was proud to join with Mayor Rilling and representatives from Eversource Energy to award the Open Door Shelter and Cedar Court Senior Housing with two significant grants to upgrade and expand affordable housing in Norwalk.

Eversource provided Cedar Court Senior Housing $500,000 to help with the renovation of Cedar Court, a 91-unit largely senior-housing complex.

Additionally, The Open Door Shelter received a $351,145 donation to help construct the Smilow SoNo Life Center.

I want to express my deep gratitude to Eversource for their commitment to our community.

Stew Leonard's and East Norwalk Tree Lightings

Stew Leonard tree lighting
It was great to see so many friendly faces at the Stew Leondard's tree lighting. Of course, it was even more special because I was able to spend time with my mom!

East Norwalk tree lighting
Lots of people turned out for the Third Taxing District annual tree lighting in East Norwalk. Tim Currie's Motown Band is always a crowd pleaser and so was the Marvin School Chorus. Of course the real star was Santa, and the kids liked the live Nativity show at Christ Episcopal Church next door.
