Free Smoke Alarms and Fire Safety Information

The American Red Cross is offering to help make Connecticut homes better prepared in the event of a home fire through the free Red Cross Home Fire Preparedness Campaign. Connecticut residents can sign up for a home visit from Red Cross volunteers. As part of the home visit, you will receive a free in-home smoke alarm if no working smoke alarms are present in your home, as well as assistance developing a Family Disaster Plan and other information that you can use to prepare your home.

If you are interested in participating in this program, visit the Red Cross' website and schedule an appointment for a time that works best for you. The program is open to all Connecticut or Rhode Island residents, regardless of whether you rent or own your home. Even if you are unable to schedule an appointment, various free resources are available on the Red Cross' website that you can use to keep yourself and your loved ones safe from fire.
