Bipartisan, Community Effort Stops East Windsor Firing Range

CSP firing rangeThanks to a great bipartisan, community effort, it is official----East Windsor will not be home to a future State Police firing range.

The communities of East Windsor and Willington have been successful in their grassroots campaigns to remove those towns from the list of possible locations for a new firearms training facility.

The Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP), the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) and Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman have heeded our calls to look for sites elsewhere, where communities are more amenable to the prospect of this project.

We need to give credit where credit is due, and that credit goes to the many community members who made their voices heard and stood up for what they believe is in the best interest of their town.

Credit should also go to the state agencies and officials who listened to the concerns of residents and their elected officials, when determining how to move this project forward--and away from East Windsor.

The State Police need a new location for their firing range--we have never disputed this fact. But East Windsor was not the right community to host this new facility, and together we have made sure that this town will continue to retain the qualities that people love most about it.

State DOT to "Beef Up" Bus Service in East Hartford

CTfastrakThe State Department of Transportation will be extending hours for CT Transit bus routes beginning in June, some of which will give greater flexibility to those traveling to and from East Hartford, including Goodwin College.

This is great news for those who rely on this service, and have been inconvenienced by runs that end too early in the evening.

Click here to find out more about which routes will see longer service hours.

This change will significantly benefit those who use our public transit system to get to and from work, school and shopping locations.
