South Windsor to Unveil Memorial Wall at Veterans Park

On Monday, I will be marching with the Patriotic Commission in the South Windsor Memorial Day Parade, to honor our fallen servicemen and women.

South Windsor veterans wallFollowing the parade, the town will unveil the expanded Memorial Wall in Veterans Memorial Park, modeled after the Korean and Vietnam Memorials in Washington D.C.

I was proud to have fought for a $75,000 state grant to assist with the construction of this memorial, which was completed with the help of local donors. This is a lasting tribute that shows our community cares about those who have given the ultimate sacrifice while defending our freedom.

I hope you will join us for the parade, which steps off at 10 a.m. It will be following by a ceremony and dedication at the Memorial Wall at 11 a.m.

East Hartford Students and Staff Compete for Good Cause

East Hartford High School will again host its Iron Hornet event today to raise money for Disabled American Veterans.

This will be the fourth year that students and staff compete in a race through an obstacle course to raise money for this worthy cause.

The event will take place today from 3 to 4 p.m. ahead of the Memorial Day holiday.

I am heartened to see our schools and young people participating in programs like this that combine fun and fitness for a good cause. If you would like to make a donation, you can send it to East Hartford High School, 859 Forbes St., East Hartford, CT 06118.
