Veteran-Specific Advanced Manufacturing Program at MCC

After the Town of Manchester, the towns of Ellington and East Hartford represent the greatest number of students who attend Manchester Community College (MCC).

That's why I am extremely excited that MCC is launching an Advanced Manufacturing Program that is geared specifically toward veterans who want to gain the skills necessary to secure a good quality, high-paying job with benefits in East Hartford's "aerospace alley."

manufacturingFew college programs can boast that 98 percent or more of graduates find work in their field almost immediately after completing the program.

Through the state's community college system, many program participants also have the opportunity to complete paid internships which can lead to a job offer before they're even finished with classes.

That's because industry leaders like Pratt & Whitney recognize that graduates who hold certificates from these programs have the skills necessary to work in advanced manufacturing technology, and are prepared to do this important work right out of the gate--work that you can take pride in, while supporting a family and advancing up the career ladder.

And this is not a four year commitment we're talking about--graduates are certified in areas like aerospace and defense in just ten months. To veterans who have given years of their lives in service to our country, I would hazard a guess that the idea of investing just ten months more of their time in themselves and their future is no difficult task.

Veterans who sign up through the Connecticut Department of Labor are eligible for dedicated financial aid, scholarships, tuition reimbursement and training-related funding.

The deadline to enroll is August 29, so please get the word out to our servicemen and women in our district that this opportunity is available to them!

Our veterans have already given us so much. I'm proud that we are now serving them by giving them access to the skills to get a great job here at home.
