Upcoming Overnight Detours
Will Impact Traffic in New Haven
Near I-95 Bridge

I-95 West River
On March 15 and 16, the State Department of Transportation will be detouring traffic on Kimberly Avenue in New Haven as part of the I-95 bridge replacement over the West River.

As you know, this $129 million project will result in a wider, safer bridge--but the process of improving this infrastructure will involve some inconveniences like this one, which, to minimize the impact on motorists, has been scheduled to happen between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. on both nights.

DOT employees will be installing advance warning signs and detour signs in the vicinity of the I-95 overpass and erecting and splicing Stage 2 steel girders above Kimberly Avenue. Traffic will be diverted around the construction at that location via Ella T. Grasso Boulevard.

We appreciate your patience and I hope this news allows you to plan ahead--the bridge replacement is scheduled to be completed in November of 2018.

You can learn more about the replacement project, or check for updates, at www.i95westriver.com.
