Access Health CT
Insurance Help Available for Those Moving Off of 'HUSKY A' Program

I am pleased to share Access Health CT's news that more than 2,100 of the 13,811 parents and caregivers that are being required to move off of HUSKY A have enrolled in a plan offered through Connecticut's healthcare exchange or onto a different Medicaid plan.

To better serve those who have not found replacement health insurance plans yet, seven enrollment fairs have scheduled throughout the state, and their hours have been extended. There is one in New Haven TODAY from 1:00 to 8:00 PM at the Access Health CT New Haven Enrollment Center at 55 Church Street. You can register online. Access Health CT is also holding enrollment fairs on Saturdays this month to make it easier for people to attend.

After a change in legislation law on federal poverty levels, people participating in the HUSKY A program became eligible for a year of Transitional Medical Assistance (TMA) last year, which was a temporary program to give people more time to find new coverage.

With the Transitional Medical Assistance set to expire on July 31, state agencies--including Access Health CT, the Department of Social Services, Office of Policy and Management and the Office of the Healthcare Advocate--have developed an outreach plan to assist those who will lose their TMA coverage.

If you or a one of your family members is set to lose coverage at the end of July, you should have received a letter and post card with information about enrolling in a new health insurance plan through Access Health CT and will likely get a phone call from a person who can help you enroll in a new plan, or to find free in-person assistance.

Individuals who have been notified that they will lose their HUSKY coverage should call 855-805-4325 or visit www.accesshealthct.com/husky-move to get more information on enrollment.
