Senator Doug McCrory, D-Hartford, issued the following statement Wednesday in response to vandalism discovered at Immanuel Congregational Church in Hartford. According to the Hartford Courant, an unidentified vandal defaced a rainbow walkway located at the church with a homophobic slur and explicit graffiti.
“I want to unequivocally condemn the homophobic vandalism targeted at Immanuel Congregational Church,” Senator McCrory said. “This kind of behavior is hateful and cowardly. As a native son of Hartford, I can tell you not only does our city thrive because of our diversity, love, and inclusion, but we will fiercely protect it.”
McCrory continued, “The residents of Hartford will not tolerate actions that seek to divide us—not on this eve of Pride Weekend in our city, not ever.”
